It sounds as if the patient was suffering from Histrionic Personality Disorder, a disorder that predisposes a person to act out and seek attention, hence to “Ham it Up.” This man: Could be considered the “Poster Child” for HPD, although he’s purported to suffer from Narcissistic Personality Disorder as well. According to his publicists, he was cured (note the crutches he uses because of the ordeal) of the disorder when he gave up his acting career to take a job in public service. However, his doctors have not been reachable for comment.
