WHO IS AUNTY DEVI ?
Aunty Devi grew up in New Zealand in the Hawkes Bay area– Tiki Tiki, Bridge Pa and Hastings, to be exact. Hawkes Bay is home to the best pie in New Zealand, as stated in the regional daily newspaper, Hawkes Bay Today. Aunty Devi recalled how tasty the meat pies were growing up in New Zealand. She just couldnt find anything comparable in America. She felt that the eateries (fast foods) were greatly missing something good and filling. For many years, Aunty Devi actively thought about recreating the savory meat pies that she grew up enjoying. Then, she decided to do something about it. In 2002, Aunty Devi began developing her own meat pie recipes. Working out of her home kitchen in San Diego, CA, she would have others try the meat pies and give their opinions. For six years, she refined her recipes, listening to everyone’s praises and suggestions. Soon, word spread about Aunty Devis meat pies and the rest is history!
