Who participates in NAEP?
NAEP assesses students in grades 4, 8, and 12 attending all types of schools (public and nonpublic). NAEP selects a stratified random sample across the country in each grade. NAEP has always endeavored to assess all students selected as a part of its sampling process, including students who are classified by their schools as students with disabilities and/or English language learners.
