What is Dyneema?
Diamond Dyneema is an extremely light fabric that uses ultrastrong Dyneema fibers in a Ripstop pattern. Many people are familiar with Kevlar as a very strong yet lightweight fabric material. Kevlar, unfortunately, is brittle, so many outdoor applications use either Spectra or Dyneema instead (different brands of the same material). The Dyneema threads are so impermeable they cannot be dyed, so they appear as the white squares that prevent rips from tearing. Diamond Dyneema, exclusive to JanSport packs, has an additional diamond pattern Ripstop on top of the rectangular Ripstop, giving it double protection.
