What is healing ministry?
First century Christians lived the answer to this question. In daily life, lay people prayed with each other for healing because they took seriously Christ’s commission to heal the sick. They believed in a God whose love has the power to heal physical, emotional and spiritual wounds. The prayers of early Christians showed that they understood what Jesus meant when he said, “I have come in order that you might have life–life in all its fullness.” (John 10:10, GNT) Today, healing ministry is experiencing a rebirth. Christians are realizing that Christ’s commission to heal the sick was meant for all of us. But we need spiritual maturity and competence to engage in effective pastoral care. Many who seek to become proficient discover that training programs are scarce or absent in their locality. Formation for Healing Ministry was designed to remedy that situation.
