When one first notices a pest within their crabitat, be it mite, ant, gnat, etc. the recommendation is the same. A deep cleaning of the crabitat is needed ASAP. One should never use a pesticide, insecticide, or any devices used for pest control. Hermit crabs are from the Arthropod Phylum which is the same phylum insects/pests are from. Any means used to rid the crabitat of pests will also be detrimental and or lethal to the hermit crab. All hermit crabs need to be removed from the infected tank. They should receive a tepid ocean water bath. The water needs to be deep enough to completely cover the largest hermit crab that resides in the crabitat. The hermit crab should be placed gently in the tepid ocean water upside down so he has to right himself up in the water. This helps to flush the shell out and also permits for the ocean water to get to the underside of his soft curly abdomen. The hermit crab should be permitted to remain in the ocean water bath for one minute before removing h
