In the poem, “Testimonial” (257), he is not testifying anything to anyone. He is just saying that all he needs to praise the Lord is his heart. This idea refers back to the bible’s teachings. In the Bible it says when you pray do not pray and make it a show; pray alone, from the heart. This poem has the same concept. Praise the Lord from the heart, that is all.
