How does acid rain hurt people?
By damaging crops, acidifying lakes and streams causing fish and other aqatic organisms to die. De-forestation is also a severe consequence by losing trees that could be harvested and reducing habitat for the other plants and animals that live in the forest. There is no direct harm that comes to people. You can stand out in the acid rain and it won’t hurt you. It’s not THAT acid. Although I did read a report from Europe a few years ago that the pH (a measure of acidity/alkalinity, 7 is neutral 0 is most acid 14 is the most alkaline or basic) of a sample of rain taken in The Black Forest in Germany was 3.5. That is the acidity of pure lemon juice. I wouldn’t want to stay out there too long.
