How many railroads are included?
• Over 1200 current and past railroads listed! I can’t find the New Haven, Rock Island, etc., Where are these railroads? • Railroads are listed by their full names. For example, the “New Haven” is actually the New York, New Haven & Harford Railroad and the “Rock Island” is listed as the “Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railway” Why does the map show railroad on the Ocean/Harbor/River? • In a few places this happens due to inaccuracies in the river, lake or coastal boundry files and in the railroad map data. With the 1:2,000,000 resolution that these separate databases were created from, the exact position of these lines relative to each other does not always align properly. In a few cases on the Great Lakes, there are lines that show former railroad car-ferry operations.
