What should be the term (duration)?
The Citys existing franchise has a ten (10) year term. Considerations include such things as comparable franchises in neighboring communities (Bellevues franchise with Comcast renewed last year for a period of five years), the rapidity of change within the high technology business sector and the reality that cable operators rely on their franchise terms for a measure of certainty and stability, i.e. the longer the term, the more desirable the franchise and the more willing an operator is to invest in the community. Comcast has requested a ten (10) year term.
