Mux is short “multiplex”. It takes “Multiple” Input Data Streams e.g. Audio, Video and “joins” them together to make one output, which is your recording. See What is a Multiplexer? at wisegeek.com and in the glossary section at xdsl.com i. Most often the TVR Software that comes with your Tuner will install the correct Muxer. Muxers that are used by your Tuner Card are Card (or rather chip) specific. NOTE! The Cyberlink PowerDVD or Intervideo’s WinDVD or Showshifter Muxers that work on BDA Devices will NOT work with normal Tuners (e.g. TV Walker), so don’t think if it shows up in the Muxchecker for the BDA devices it will work! Intervideo’s WinDVD Creator installs a Mux that will work on Plextor devices, but it MAY NOT work on other devices e.g. it has been confirmed not to work on the GO7007SB-based TV Walker.
