Are statues architectual?

A piece of architecture has a function – i.e. it is a habitat or a place of work etc. So would that apply to statues? If it does then go ahead, but I see no reason why you shouldn’t include sculptures such as the supporting figures in Greek architecture. Think they’re called caryatids.
