What is marasmus?
Marasmus is malnutrition to the third degree. This usually happens in children. The child has a considerable loss of adipose tissue in the buttocks and thighs. The child’s body weight can be a whopping 80% less than that of a normal child of that height. They tend to be very weak, irritable, and hungry. The child is emaciated, too. Sounds like the kid is basically starving to death!
