Why was president johnson impeached?
Andrew Johnson was the 17th President serving from 1965 until 1869. He became President, following the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. President Johnson was impeached because it was felt that he broke the laws relating to the military operations, and in particular because he fired the war secretary.
