Can crows be domesticated?
As commensals of man, all species of crows lend themselves to domestication. Very much so the house crow which belongs to the species Corvus Splendens. The jungle crow may not attach itself to man as readily as would the house crow. However, most of us would not touch crows with a barge pole because they possess a few irredeemable qualities. One, they feed on carrion. Two, like shrikes they have a propensity to stash away excess food. Not uncommonly, they find overhead tanks an ideal place to store a dead rat! Three, lack of a mellifluous call. Unlike most other birds, their cries are so raucous as to set one’s teeth on edge. Four, it is believed that keeping a crow augurs ill for the house. V.
