Wheres Clint Eastwood?
The first thing that strikes you about the reserve, located in North-East Kuwait near Subiya, is its sheer size: at 320 square kilometers, this is a seriously big place, with a landscape ranging from a shoreline dotted with pools and reed beds teeming with herons and flamingos who show the proper haughty indifference to human gawping, to cliffs and uplands where at present Clint Eastwood might be expected to gallop into view at any second, with the hardy brush-type ground foliage known in Arabic as Rimth (Haloxylon salicornicum) and dun-colored, dried-up riverbeds stretching into the distance. From the low cliffs sloping down to the lowlands, there is a perfect view of the sea stretching to the horizon with only the breeze breaking the pristine silence near the center of the reserve.
