Leather Coral Irritated by Mushrooms?

0

I have a toadstool leather coral (Sarcophyton sp) that has had his polyps completely closed up for the last 5 or 6 days. I don’t see any necrotic tissue or changes to his body, and none of the tank occupants have been picking on him. The only change in the tank is that a small pink mushroom (quarter-sized) has grown to the point where it slightly brushes up against the base of the leather coral. Would this potentially be irritating the leather coral? All other occupants of the aquarium (fish & corals) are doing well, and no recent changes have been observed in the water chemistry.
