Whats a Jellicle Cat?
The phrase Jellicle Cat is made-up. It was created by T.S. Eliot’s niece, who tried to say dear little kitten, but it came out sounding like Jellicle Cat instead. So he took that phrase and used in Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, which is what the musical Cats is based on. A Jellicle Cat is described in “The Jellicle Ball”, but it is also said in one of his unpublished poems that all cats are Jellicle.
