What are asanas?
The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali describes “asana” as one of the eight limbs of Yoga. Asanas indicate the various body postures in Yoga. The asanas or the yogic postures open up the different channels of energy within our body. The psychic centers and the chakras of the body also open up gradually with the practice of asanas. The asanas help in purifying and strengthening the mind and body. Asanas help the mind to focus and help to bring it under control. There are several schools which teach the art of yoga in India. From these schools one can learn the various asanas.
