What are the AP study procedures?
An antiperspirant study is often called a “hotroom”. On certain visits during the study, participants are required to spend time in a climate controlled room to stimulate perspiration. The environment is usually 100 and 35% humidity — often feeling cooler than some summer days in the Arizona and Florida climates. The hotroom sessions are usually 80 minutes long: 40 minutes of a warm-up period and 40 minutes for the sample collection. During this time, participants will wear cotton pads under their arms to absorb the perspiration. These pads will be collected and weighted, and that’s how Hill Top determines how well the product works. In most APs, the study begins with a baseline collection that determines the participant’s normal perspiration levels without using any antiperspirant products. On continuing study visits, participants will come into the laboratory for supervised washes and applications of the test product. Participants may shower regularly at home while on a study, but t
