What is a flyback circuit by the way?
‘Sorry to be so spleeney about the “plugO’death” there IS a way to slip a grounded screw driver under the plug and discharge the capacator. (It’s the plug you can see right on the top of the tube with the large rubber flange around it) I just hate to see folks get in there. The flyback circuit consists of mainly a high-voltage transformer and a capacator that stores the charge. This charge applied to the tube attracts the electrons from the back of the tube and encourages them to jump the vacuum and smash into the screen phosphors in a somewhat orderly manner. If you just pull the drive, there’s no problem with high voltage, high current components.
