What is an over-run/under-run?

Whenever we print on our commercial presses, we need to add additional sheets of paper to register the layout and calibrate the colors. At times, depending on the outside temperature, the humidity, types of paper & inks used and many other combinations beyond our control, the printing will need more or less fine-tuning, and hence minimally enlarge or reduce the amount of paper needed. We will either give you a few more sheets extra (over-run) or a few sheets less (under-run) than what your order states. We tend to provide between 99.5% – 101% of the actual quantities ordered. We try to minimize these variances as much as we can but we may not be exact all the time.
