What are UTF-8 and UTF-16?
UTF-8 and UTF-16 are two encoding schemes of Unicode. UTF stands for Unicode Transformation Format. There are various types of UTFs. They are simply different way map the Unicode code-points to a digital representation. If a document does not have any encoding declaration and no BOM, it is assumed its encoding is UTF-8.
