Why use jjPod?
The history of Java includes some initial (1995) excitement for the ability to run programs in a browser, which meant running programs anywhere. Unfortunately, although there seems to be a browser anywhere (on every computer), there are many different types and versions of browsers, with various support for Java programs. Also, it turns out there are different types of tools (libraries) needed by Java programs. Sometimes these libraries are large, which translates to potentially slow loading of programs. Nobody wants to wait for a web page to download, not to mention a large program. Fortunately, loading large files off an iPod or USB stick is fast. And, by carrying an iPod or USB stick in your pocket, your purse, or around your neck, you do not need a browser in order to be running programs anywhere.
