If the interpolation flag is set to true for an image EPS and PDF viewers are allowed to attempt quality improvements for better on-screen rendering. The bt9.pdf file shows the effect. The first foil includes a PNG file (without interpolation flag set), the second foil includes a PDF file (interpolation flag is set to “true”). When switching between the foils look at the edges of the 5-minutes-circles and the edges of the pointers.
