The Parole Board will often recommend that an inmate “move through the system” and get to a lower security when the next reconsideration hearing is held. While the Parole Board does not dictate what security an inmate is classified to, they often recommend that inmates be moved. This allows the Parole Board to make a better assessment of the inmate for release back into the community. The Parole Board Members are aware of the classification system in use at the Department of Corrections and they do take that into consideration when making recommendations.
