Please see Email Basics I like using Webmail. Do I need to switch to POP3 or IMAP4? No, there is no need to switch. If youre comfortable with Webmail (browser) access and have no interest in the extra features offered by email software access (which use the POP3 or IMAP4 protocols), feel free to use only webmail. We recommend using whatever makes you comfortable. I want to use email software. Should I use POP3 or IMAP4 access? In general, POP3 meets most users needs. IMAP4 is best for sophisticated users that frequently use more than one computer, such as a desktop and a laptop, and need email access from either computer but dont want to use Webmail access.
