Who is an immigrant?
There is no legal definition of immigrant in the UK. Generally, the term immigrant is used to refer to someone who leaves their country of origin to settle permanently in another country. For example, someone who comes over on a work permit, or somebody who comes to live with their British spouse, would be classed as a immigrant.
