Whats the history of QTMS?
As ReliaSoft grew during the mid to late 90s, we realized that we (as a customer) needed an internal Web-based system that tracked development and customer issues/incidents, prioritized development actions and tracked data for each product from the initial design stages to its obsolesce. The system had to be both a knowledge base for our support staff and an incident communication tool for our engineers. After searching for an off-the-shelf product, a decision was made to build one internally (after all we are a reliability software company). The initial product was dubbed ITS (incident tracking system). The system was easily embraced and its benefits were immediately realized within the organization (we even wrote a paper on it, “Intellectual Capital: Using the Web for Knowledge Management and Data Utilization in Reliability Engineering”). Realizing that we had just built a better mousetrap and that the system would be very well received by our customers, we redesigned ITS with the ca
