The printers display panels is stating that a toner cartridge is low. What do I do?
On the Tektronix printers, get a wax ink cartridge from the cabinet, insert it into the appropriate slot and pull the lever. Do not do this while the printer is in the middle of printing to a page, though. On the HP black and white laser printers (“Lucy, Desi, Fred & Ethel), open up the top door, gently pull out the cartridge and gently rock the cartridge back and forth. Reinsert the cartridge and close the top door. You might have to push an online button to put the printer into “ready” mode. This process will usually coax a few more prints before actually replacing the cartridge. If the prints are washed out or streaked, though, go ahead and replace the cartridge. A lab monitor or faculty can do this but students can do this as well. A replacement cartridge should be available in a cabinet where the paper and inks are located (tell me location).
