Who is Susan G. Komen?
The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, based in Dallas, Texas, was established in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to honor the memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died from breast cancer at the age of 36. Nancy Brinker posed this question following her sister’s death: Could one person really make a difference? Since 1982, the Foundation and its Affiliates have raised more than $600 million for breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment. It is credited as the nation’s leading catalyst in the fight against breast cancer. For more information on the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, visit: www.komen.org.
