GS + ABS or Dakar?
1. Not to ruin your purchase but why would you be planning to buy a specific bike type yet at the same time not be sure as to which variety to buy. 🙂 Will try to help you out nonetheless with some feedback. 2. GS/Dakar/CS all have same basic engine/frame design with small differences for suspension and in the case of the CS a belt drive. All have same basic handling characteristics. Ride one and you’ll feel comfortable on any of them. 3. The Dakar has a “little” more suspension for off-road but it is not 100% as off-road ready as a KTM/WP suspension. It gives a bit more travel but not for too aggressive riding (remember that it’s still a bit bike). Biggest change here is the 21″ front wheel. ABS is available as of ’02 but you can still brake better on/off-road manually if you know how. 4. ABS is nice on-road, useless off-road. City riding mostly, I’d take a GS which should also be fine for the occasional back road. Your skill much more so that the bike will limit what you can do. 5.
