What are the Internet Cafes?
Connecting military members with their families and loved ones is a heartfelt goal of the USO Puget Sound. Through our partnership with the Internet Cafes located on the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station and McChord Air Force Base, military members can access the Internet and use email services for free. Traditional mail service can take two or three weeks for delivery. Thanks to a generous grant from USO supporter Ford Smith, and the technical aide of USO volunteers, the Internet Cafes provide our service men and women with an important communications tool and opportunity to stay in touch with family and friends while utilizing the near “real-time” speed of cyber space.
