An H-Bridge is a configuration of four transistors, typically MOSFETS, that allow current to be switched in either direction through a load. The load is often a DC motor, but the same configuration is used for a (single) bipolar stepper motor winding. The ‘H’ in the name references the shape of the transistor configuration.
