What is IMPS?
IMPS, or Integrated Introduction to Mathematics and Physical Science, is a two-term introductory sequence in mathematics and physics. It covers the same material as Mathematics 11, 13, and Physics 13, 14. However, the IMPS syllabus has been arranged so that the mathematics and the physical applications are presented in a more coordinated manner than in the traditional courses. IMPS is jointly developed and taught by faculty from mathematics, physics, and engineering, and will be excellent preparation for students planning majors in applied mathematics, physics, chemistry, earth science, or engineering. In its first two years, IMPS was a three-term sequence which included chemistry as well as math and physics. Currently, the two-term format is adopted with a focus on math and physics. This will give you more flexibility in your first year for choosing other courses.
