The SAGE engine, first used in Generals, then in Battle for Middle Earth 1 and 2. It was originally developed by Westwood Pacific. This engine is heavily updated and some of the new features that you can expect are new particle effects (used in explosions, weather effects, dust, smoke…) and improved pathfinding. The physics have been constantly improved since Generals and are even cooler in C&C 3, if yet not realistic.
