My recorder offers different recording speeds. Apart from allowing longer recording, what do these do? Will different speeds affect the quality of the recording?
The four speeds (HQ=1 hour; SP=2 hours; EP=4 hours; SLP=6 hours) inherent in the iLO DVDR04 model are associated with four different levels of stat transfer. As the recording time increases, the data transfer rate decrases and the quality will decrease. The recording speeds up to 4 hours are MPEG-2 quality with is equivalent to movies shown in the theaters. The SLP recording quality is similiar to VHS or often better, depending on the content being recorded.
