The Namibian Authority does not place any restriction on the temporary importation of hunting rifles, shotguns, or bows. Temporary importation permits are issued by the Police at the port of entry. (To print a copy of the permit that you can complete before your arrival, go the Namibia Professional Hunters Association website.) Please bring with you a document of ownership, stating the serial number of the firearms is required, and this document can be obtained at your local police station. Importation of 80 rounds of ammunition per rifle is allowed. Please note that ammunition may be transported in your rifle case. It is important to note that some country’s laws require ammunition to be transported in a lockable metal container. Although this is not a requirement of the Namibian government, you will need to observe these regulations if you are traveling through countries whose laws require this.
