Is MyUA Secure?

0

Yes. As an application, MyUA presents and combines both secured (encrypted) and unsecured (non-encrypted) information. MyUA authenticates against the University of Alaskas central authentication system AuthServ. Note the s after http in the URL for the login: https://authserv.alaska.edu/cgi-bin/authenticate?redirect=MYUA If you were to check ‘properties’, you will see a statement that says the login connection is encrypted. Certain features, functions and channels within MyUA are secure. For example, after you click on the email icon to open the email center, you can tell it is secure by right clicking on the center, open View Page Info and observing the https in the address as well as the presence of a VeriSign certificate under the Security tab. Channels are essentially conduits to content residing outside the portal and will be secure if the source of the originating content is secure.
