Teletext is the generic name for inclusion of text information (news, weather, Closed Captions etc) within a broadcast television signal. The text data is encoded onto a part of the television signal not normally shown by regular television sets called the Vertical Blanking Interval or VBI. Special decoders or TV sets with integrated teletext decoders are able to receive and display the data on the TV screen.
