You may apply at the Vermont Superior Court in the county in which you reside. Notaries public serve four year terms; the current term ends February 10, 2011. The fee is $20.

To become a notary public, you must (1) complete a notary application and have the application notarized; (2) provide an original police clearance issued by the Guam Police Department within the last 30 days; (3) pay a non-refundable application fee of Fifty Dollars ($50); (4) pass a written notary examination; and (5) provide an original notarial bond before being commissioned as a notary public. If you are applying to be a government notary, you must provide a written declaration to the Attorney General, signed by the head of the government department or agency that you work for, which states that the commissioning as a notary public is in the public’s interest. The non-refundable application fee is waived for a government notary applicant.
