What is the role of my local vet?
Your local vet may initially be involved in identifying the infection though this would mean he/she will not be allowed to be in contact with other livestock for several days. When all stock movements in an area need to be stopped and a major control effort is underway your vet may be employed to visit suspect properties to examine stock for any evidence of the infection.
