How are growths specified ?
Growths are specified using a simple scripting language. For example, to grow a layer of GaAs 1000A thick, the command is, “layer GaAs 1000”. To change a temperature use, “temp substrate 600”. To wait until 7:00am to warm up a cell use, “waituntil 7:00 am”. There are many advantages of specifying the growth commands through a text file. The file itself is portable and can be emailed and edited on any text editor. It also has much more functionallity than a spreadsheet based recipe generator which simply cannot handle many of the functions that are easy to implement in AMBER. Text files are much less prone to error and are easier to check than a spreadsheet with information scattered across a large area.
