WHAT IS THE STING RAY?

0

Stingrays are diamond-shaped with a flat body, big triangle fins, and a tail shaped like a whip. The tail is longer than the body and has one or two sharp spines. They are brown or tan. They have eyes on the top of their bodies and the mouth is underneath. They can be up to 14 feet long and 6 feet wide. The spine of the stingray is poisonous. Sometimes people get stuck with the spine when they step on a stingray by accident. The sting feels like a snakebite. Female stingrays can have 2 to 8 baby stingrays at one time. Stingrays use their stinger to hunt for food and their teeth to eat. Some things they eat are other fish, snails, shrimp, and worms. They swim over their food and they drop down on top of it. They use their large fins to scoop food up out of the sand.
