What is the white stuff on pine cones?

No it’s the natural sap that comes from the oil on the pine. It is excruded, just like oil on our hair or skin, without the tree knowning. Lots of trees do this (oak trees drop tiny sap droplets from their leaves) It’s not a bit dangerous, but very sticky and gross. I wouldn’t suggest putting it in your eyes or mouth but that’s common sense.
