First, everyone knows that when hunting in frigid conditions all motors, no matter what the make, model or age, are more difficult to crank when cold. When you add the fact that these longtail mud motors are 1 to 1 direct drives you increase the cranking difficulty because the shaft, which is encapsulated in grease, adds additional starting torque requirements that must be overcome. The colder the temperature, the higher the viscosity of the grease and thus the higher the starting torque requirement. The electric start takes care of that issue all together.
