no dog saliva is not lethal to birds, if it was my birds who happily play (supervised) with my Labrador should have been dead along time ago. if there is no breaking of the skin or bleeding the bird should be alright, but keep an eye on it, cover part of its cage so it can hide. try butting a peg on the cage door and getting into the habit of putting the peg on when you put the bird away.
