Where is the Anti-Litter Law?
published: Sunday | July 13, 2003 THE EDITOR, Sir: THE NEWLY elected Mayor of Kingston, Desmond McKenzie, promises to clean drains and other debris from Kingston. Did anyone say that they are launching a massive campaign on educating and penalising persons who persist in littering gullies and drains and of course spitting and urinating in public and private places? I must let the mayor know that, as soon as these gullies and drains are cleaned, there will be a repeat of dumping, wasting huge sums of money once again. The periphery of St. William Grant Park in downtown Kingston and Eastwood Park Road bus terminus is a disgrace. I have witnessed a bus conductor using the wall adjacent to the bus terminus on Eastwood Park Road as a urinal. The stain of the urine usually paint these sidewalk areas, and one has to skip and jump over them. No one should carry an overseas guest to tour the capital.
