HOW IS SHOE SIZE DETERMINED?
The distance from your heel to the ball of your foot determines shoe size. There is only ½ inch difference between American whole sizes and even less between European whole sizes. HOW SHOULD MY SHOES FIT? When your heel is all the way back in your shoe, the ball of your foot should be in the widest part of your shoe. You should be able to wiggle your toes and your heels should stay in place when you walk. WHERE SHOULD MY HEEL BE IN AN OPEN-BACK SHOE? Beware of the heel gap. Not only is it unsightly, your foot is misaligned in your shoe. Your heel should be all the way to the back of your shoe with little or none of the foot bed showing. Remember that leather always gives and your foot will slide forward a bit with wear. SHOULD I BUY A BIGGER SIZE IN A POINTED-TOE SHOE? Not necessarily.
