Before placing your tree in it’s stand, make a 1/4″- 1/2″ fresh cut off the trunk base. This opens the tree stem so it can take up water. Immediately place your tree in the stand and fill with fresh water. Keep in mind, if you allow the water level to drop below the fresh cut, a new seal will form over the stem, unabling the tree to take up any more water.
